Frequently asked questions
Should I stay inside Kruger or do day trips from outside the park?
We recommend staying inside the Kruger National Park on one of our private multi-day safaris (2 to 14 days). On day trips from outside the park you start with a very early pick-up and often stand in the queue at the gate with the other day visitors every morning. When you sleep in a Kruger camp, you are already inside the park when the gates open, so you reach the sightings at first light, before the day visitors arrive. You keep the same private guide and open safari vehicle for the whole trip, and you have time to explore much deeper into the park.
What do you arrange on a multi-day safari inside Kruger?
Everything, so you can just enjoy the bush. We book your Kruger National Park camp accommodation, handle camp check-in and check-out and your luggage, and pick you up privately at Skukuza Airport and drop you off again at the end. You keep the same private guide and open safari vehicle the whole time, with only your group on board.
How long are your multi-day safaris and how do I book one?
From 2 to 14 days, for 1 to 9 guests, with pick-up at Skukuza Airport, KMIA (Nelspruit) or Hazyview. Every trip is planned around your dates and wishes, so send us your dates for a free quote on WhatsApp (+27 83 772 4420) or at bookings@pksafaris.com.
Are your Kruger safaris really private?
Yes, 100%. We only do private safaris. Only your own group (1 to 9 guests) and your guide are on the vehicle. Nobody else ever joins.
Where do you pick up from?
From your accommodation in Hazyview, the Kruger Gate area, and Skukuza and Pretoriuskop camps. Pick-ups from Malelane and Crocodile Bridge are on request, with a R950 surcharge per trip.
Are Kruger National Park entrance fees included?
No. Kruger National Park conservation fees are not included. They are paid per person, by bank card, at the gate on the day. Bring your passport or ID. See our Kruger conservation fees page for the current rates.
Do you have children's rates?
Yes. Children over 3 and under 12 pay R400 on half-day safaris (morning or afternoon) and R550 on full-day safaris.
Is there a discount if I book more than one safari?
Yes. Guests staying in Hazyview get 10% off when they book two or more day safaris together. Send us your dates on WhatsApp or email and we will send you a quote.
Do you do Johannesburg airport transfers?
No, sorry. We do not do Johannesburg (OR Tambo) transfers. Coming from Johannesburg? Book any shuttle service from Johannesburg to Hazyview, and we will pick you up in Hazyview and start your tour from there. You can also fly into KMIA / MQP (Nelspruit) or Skukuza Airport, where we pick you up.
Do you offer night drives or bush walks?
Not for day guests. Please book night drives and bush walks directly with SANParks or at the Kruger gate. For guests on our multi-day safaris staying in Kruger National Park camps, we can book them for you.
What if my plans change?
Day safaris can be moved to a new date within one calendar year at no cost, subject to availability. Full payment confirms your booking.
What should I bring on a safari?
Warm layers and a jacket (early mornings are cold on an open vehicle, even in summer), a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, binoculars and a camera, plus your passport or ID and a bank card for the Kruger conservation fees.
Who are your photo safaris suitable for?
Our B1 private photo safaris are suitable for beginner to pro photographers. The setup is designed for guests who want to focus on wildlife photography at their own level.
What is included in a B1 photo safari?
These safaris use a gimbal-fitted vehicle and are limited to a maximum of two photographers, with two guides on board. It is a focused setup made for a better photographic experience.
Can I rent lenses for a photo safari?
Yes, lens rental is available via APS. If you need specific equipment, it is best to ask when booking so you can check what is available.
Where do your Panorama Route tours start?
Pick-up is at 07:30 from your accommodation in Hazyview, or at 06:30 from Skukuza (R650 surcharge). We are back around 16:00, after about 8 hours.
What places are included on the Panorama Route tour?
The tour visits all of these stops: Graskop Gorge (entrance plus Lift and Forest), The Pinnacle, Wonder View, Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Berlin Falls, Lisbon Falls and Graskop Town. You pay your own entrance fees at each stop.
Is the Panorama Route tour private and flexible?
Yes, it is a private full-day sightseeing tour at your own pace. That gives you more freedom to enjoy each stop without feeling rushed.
